Fastener Calculators & Tools

Calculators we built for our own works office and then put on the website, because the same questions come up in nearly every enquiry. Free to use, no sign-up, and each one shows the formula and the standard it comes from rather than just a number.

Bolt Weight Calculator

Hex bolts · stud bolts · nuts · metric and inch

Weight per piece and for the whole lot, using either trade weights or a head-plus-shank calculation. Enter your own dimensions for non-standard parts. Useful for costing, freight and packing lists.

Bolt Torque Calculator

M6 to M64 · classes 4.6 to 12.9 · ISO 898-1

Tightening torque from proof load and nut factor, adjusted for coating and lubrication. Shows the range as well as the figure, because a galvanised bolt and a waxed one behave very differently on the wrench.

  • Foundation and anchor bolt weight, including L, J and plate types
  • Nut weight by size and standard
  • Threaded rod and bar weight per metre
  • Shear connector stud quantity and weight per deck run

If there is a calculation you keep doing by hand, tell us and we will look at adding it. Send a message.

Reference material

Alongside the calculators, our product data sheets carry dimension and weight tables you can download: HSFG bolts, HSFG nuts, IS 6649 washers, DTI washers to EN 14399-9, shear connector studs and PSR studs.

Technical articles covering the standards behind these numbers are on the articles page — bolt material grades, HSFG standards, tunnel segment bolt thread forms and B7 stud bolts for oil and gas.

A note on using these figures

Everything here is general engineering guidance calculated from published standard dimensions and properties. Real parts vary with tolerance, coating thickness, thread condition and manufacturing method. Where a drawing, specification or design engineer states a value, that value governs. We are a manufacturer, not a design consultancy, and these tools are not a substitute for design calculations.
